How to Make Valentine’s Balloon Game Target Shot for Kids

Your kids will love this fun Valentine’s Balloon Game for Kids. Fun games and activities are a great way to make memories with your kids without having a bunch of candy. This game can be played at a party, inside on a hot summer day, or with the whole family. Have some fun party game prizes from the dollar store ready for the winning team or for each person or team member to have.

Kids of all ages will love this Valentine’s day game and it’s great a fun way to practice hand-eye coordination. Older children can help their younger siblings count their points and learn to shoot these festive balloons.

Create a start line and add this game to an obstacle course or a cute balloon scavenger hunt for a fun birthday party idea. I wanted the boys to play a Valentine’s Day game for kids that was fun and interactive. I needed them to burn some energy after a long sugar filled day at school. Plus, I did feel them a super yummy Valentine’s Cupcake

What you will need

How to make a Valentines Balloon Shoot Game

First, you will need your helium tank or air pump to inflate your heart balloons. Try to blow them up large enough for the target but you can still see the heart shape. Do not over inflate them, this could cause the balloon to burst when the arrow hits it.

If you want to play a game where the balloons break easily overinflating them will make this happen. It all depends on what Valentine’s day game you want to play with your children.

How to make a Valentines Balloon Shoot Game

First, you will need your helium tank or air pump to inflate your heart balloons. Try to blow them up large enough to draw a target on the front but be sure that you can still see the heart shape. Do not over inflate them, this could cause the balloon to burst when the arrow hits it.

Filling the balloons all depends on what Valentine’s Day game you want to play with your children.  If you want to play a game where the balloons break easily overinflating them will make this happen. If a balloon does break make sure to get all the broken balloon pieces so young kids don’t find them and put them in their mouths. Cheaper balloons will break easily but are also harder to inflate so spend a little more money and get a good latex balloon from your local party store or Hobby Lobby

Ideas to have your kids help you make this fun balloon game. Have your big kids help you fill the balloons, tie on the sting, or draw the target on the front of the balloons. Little kids can hand you the balloons and choose the colors they want to use for the game.

Taking your large Sharpie, draw a target on your filled balloons. I chose to draw a heart with a point value on each and spaced them accordingly when the game began. You can also draw a circle or target shape on the balloon if you want to skip the numbers and points altogether.

When planning any fun balloon games keep in mind the kids you will have playing the game as well as how hard you want the game to be. For younger kids turn this into a number learning game and older kids can learn to add their points quickly to see who won the game. This is a great way to work on counting, math, or having them hit balloons in numeric order. There are so many ways to teach children with arts and crafts.

I wanted 3 inflated balloons together so I hot glued them. Now, I know you’re thinking I’m nuts but hear me out. Using a LOW HEAT hot glue gun  will work wonders on balloon decorations.

So when you have your balloons ready place a small amount of glue on one balloon and simply stick the other one to it. DONE! Yes, it’s that easy. Continue gluing the balloons you want in place. Gluing them will make sure the balloons don’t move while you play this fun valentiens day game.

Once the top targets were in place I tied and glued the smaller balloons below the large heart balloons. This just gave it a more finished look and helped keep the heart target balloons together. Use any color balloon you have on hand or you can order some fun valentines day festive colored balloons and confetti balloons from amazon.

Once they are how you want them it will be time to set up. Take each balloon bouquet and tape, or tie them to something or tape the bottom of the string on the floor. These balloons will last a day before they start to fall but if you need them for longer just use a balloon air pump instead and hang the balloon bouquet on the wall with a string, rubber band, or tape.

Next, you will need to create a starting line by putting masking tape on the floor for the first person to stand behind or lay a hula hoop where the team members can stand while aiming and shooting at the balloon targets until the next person takes a turn. Continue playing until everyone has had a chance to play. Once all the party guests have had a turn You can either choose to play again or tally the scores to see who won.

Keeping track of the scores can be done by each person, or on a piece of paper. A good option is to have a chalkboard handy to keep track while all the kids play the game. The object of the game is the highest score wins, you decide if you want to have a perfect game by making a perfect score to hit or if you want to add in an extra challenge for kids to shoot for. You may have to have a set amount of time that each person takes a long time to try and shoot the balloons.

These were the best bows and arrows for the kids to play with. They are cheap, amazingly easy to put together and I wasn’t upset when we lost some arrows or the bows broke. A good idea is to make sure if find some cheaper bows and arrows to play with. This set I used all the kids got to take their own set home with them as a party favor. If you would like to play the game with just one bow set then check your local dollar tree or store to find an inexpensive set or two to use.

This target practice game is so much fun to play as party games, at family reunions, or on those long summer days. The great thing about this game is that each time you make this game for your kids be sure to change a few things up. Keep the players guessing and have the first player learn the new rules with everyone else before they start aiming at the balloons.

You can choose to give everyone a prize like sidewalk chalk or some treats but one of the best things about this game is the game itself. It’s so fun to try and shoot balloons with suction cups in hope that they stick to the balloons.

Clean up is a breeze, tell your kids they will get Skittles when they have all the balloons popped and put into the trash. There you go all the clean up done!

How many balloons did your kids pop?
