DIY Shark Toss Game for Ocean theme week.
Once a week my daycare kids have Fun Friday, they LOVE it. Click here to see the rest of Ocean Theme Fun Friday! This week we had an Ocean Theme, they picked it themselves probably because it was shark week at the time. So being the procrastinator that I am I waited until the night before and scoured Pinterest for some idea of what to make and I came across this cute toss game. So I thought hey I can free hand that! You can find their awesome craft at Making Learning Fun. They have a great printable and craft game you can make with your kids, so check them out!
I thought it would be fun to have a big shark to through bean bags through. So early Friday morning I got up and used a large TV box that I had been saving so such an idea. With pencil first I drew out the shark then traced it with a marker. Here the shark is before I spray painted it grey.
A simple way to make your DIY Shark toss game.
The easiest way besides free hand is to use a projector (like teachers wrote on when I was a kid and the math problems were larger on the wall.. anyway.. back to the job at hand) to blow up the image onto your cardboard or sheet and trace the lines. Once traced for the first time lay the cardboard where you can re-trace the lines making them nice and neat with a sharpie.
After re-tracing it, I took it outside and sprayed the shark using gray spray paint I had on hand. After letting it dry I took a serrated knife and cut it out.. you could also you a box cutter but this cardboard was really thick. Next, I used acrylic paint for some blue water and white for the eyes. The acrylic paint took longer to dry then the spray paint so I set it under my ceiling fan. The last touch was going back over the shark with a black magic marker for an added definition.
My kids went NUTS over this shark game. They couldn’t wait for their turn to toss all of their bean bags into the sharks mouth.
Find some waffle balls or small bean bags and you have a great game to keep kids busy all day! Well, at least for a while. Enjoy your new game!!
