What You Will Need to Make this Rainbow Fruit Skewers Recipe

How to Make Rainbow Fruit Kabobs Recipe for Kids

The first thing you need to do is wash all the fruit and find out how many fruit skewers you need to make.

Wanting easy snacks with simple ingredients these rainbow fruit kebabs are the answer. To make these fresh fruit skewers grab the fruit ingredients, a melon baller, wooden skewers, and marshmallows.

You will need 2 blueberries, 1 red grape, green grape, a slice of kiwi and pineapple, one slice of orange, and a strawberry per fresh fruit kabobs.

**If you have younger kids be sure to put each piece of fruit into bite-size pieces. I like to keep one of these Anti Choking Devices with me at all times. I haven’t had to use it but I like to be on the safe side.

Put each fruit on in rainbow order like Roy G. Biv or as close as you can get it. Roy G Biv is red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.

To start get all of your fruit at least one cup blueberries and all other fruit. Get your wooden skewers and add 2 grapes, one red grape or purple grape, one green grape, and one slice of kiwi fruit. If the fruit breaks when you slide the fruit onto the skewer then just set it aside and grab another one.

Next add the pineapple, orange slice or tangerine segment, and strawberry.  Spray the fruit kabobs with a lemon, flip the fruit skewers, and spray again to keep the fruit all looking bright.

The following fruit can also be used. Dragon Fruit, start fruit, honeydew melon, apple slices, or watermelon. If you want to use these for a St. Patrick’s Day treat then standing them up in a black bucket as a pot of gold would be a great idea that the kids will love!

Wait to add the marshmallow until you are ready to eat the kabob. The marshmallows can get soggy when you put them in the fridge or dry and stale if you leave them out. Keep all the premade kabobs in an airtight container in the fridge.

What can I do with leftover Rainbow Kabob Fruit

Either keep all the leftover fruit in separate containers or keep larger fruit and smaller fruit separate. I usually just dump it all in a bowl or lay it out on a cookie sheet and pop it in the freezer for later.

Making a fruit salad out of the leftover fruit is a delicious way to not let the food go to waste. You can also freeze the leftover fruit for a frozen summer treat for everyone to enjoy. Another great way to use up the leftover rainbow fruit is to freeze it for a smoothie.

Enjoy these colorful fruit skewers by themselves, with your favorite fruit dip, greek yogurt, or any delicious dip you whip up.
