Try this fun DIY Witch Hat Necklace for kids. Luke made one for his favorite teacher. This bell necklace is a whimsical addition to silly Halloween fun!

 

DIY Witch Hat Necklace

I bought a bunch of multicolored bells and had some cute Halloween craft paper.. So an idea sparked and no we have cute Witch Hat Necklaces. Tada! Luke also gave one of these to his favorite teachers at school.

What you will need

• 1 inch green bells
• 1 inch purple bells
• 2 inch wooden circles
• Black & purple paint
• Paint brushes and plate
• Scissors
• Hot glue gun
• Purple and green feathers
• Purple glitter
• Black glitter
• String or ribbon (Make the string for each necklace extra long then cut down as needed)
• Scrap book paper of your choice

Start off by painting one wooden per witch hat necklace that you want to make.

Paint one side, when dry flip and paint the top side and edges. Sprinkle liberally with coordinating glitter.

While those are drying cut a cone shape out of pretty scrap book paper.  See picture below.

Roll into a cone shape but DO NOT glue it closed yet.

Once your painted wooden circles are dry, your ready for the next step. Find a safe spot for this! Put your nail in the center of the disk and lightly hammer until its about halfway through. Then gently pull the nail back out.

You should end up with a hole like this.

Next, take your bell and lace through the ribbon or pretty string you chose. Make the string for each necklace extra long then cut down as needed. You will be  hot gluing the necklace together so you wont be able to make the string longer later. 

Then, CAREFULLY hot glue feathers on the top of your bell.

Lace your string or ribbon through the bottom of the disk up.

Pull your disk down toward the bell topped feather and add a little hot glue. This will keep your disk in place and the bell stuck to you hat.

This is what mine looked like.

To add the top of your hat you need to lace your string through before hot gluing the back of your witch hat on.

Almost done! All you need to do now is glue your cone onto the disk.
