How to Make Easy Oreo Bat Cookies
Gather your ingredients for this fun Halloween recipe and let’s get started making these cute little bats. You will need a total of 18 Oreos to make 12 bats. If you want to make tiny bats then you will need to use MIni Oreo Cookies. It will be a little harder but they will turn out really cute. Use mini chocolate chips with a drop of melted white chocolate under the chips for the bat eyes.
First, we will separate the cookies and frosting from a few of the Oreos and cut a few in half. This might sound difficult but I assure you this is easy and you will have lots of cute little bat treats to bring to a class party or Halloween festivities.

Any leftover cookie pieces are eaten at my house and no bake treats are usually gone the same day I make them. If you want to keep some for later hide them in an airtight container. Just don’t forget where you put them like I usually do.
Separate the tops and bottoms of 6 Oreo cookies. Scrape the frosting off of each side and keep it for later in a small bowl or on a piece of wax paper. The cream filling frosting will be used to put your bat body together later on. Using a sharp knife (or butter knife for a child) cut the Oreo tops and bottoms in half.
I have done this with a serrated knife but you need to go really slow. To do this don’t just cut the Oreos, you will need to make a sawing motion to actually saw them in half. If you saw the Oreos you will have less break. You want the cookie halves to look like bat wings.
Using the remaining 12 Oreo cookies, separate the top of the Oreo from the bottom. Lay the cream side out on a plate or on parchment paper. Set the side without cream on a separate plate. You will need 2 wings for each bat that we previously cut in half. Gently slide the Oreo wings on each side of the cream-filled Oreo.
If you want these Bat Cookies to be turned into bat Oreo pops you will need to add a lollipop stick in the cream before adding the top back onto the cookie. You can also use a paper straw or a popsicle stick.

Add a little bit of the cream that you saved from the Oreos earlier onto the cookie with the wings and then press the blank Oreo half on top of the cream-filled cookie. This will seal the wings in between the Oreos.
If you don’t have enough cream to finish all of the bat cookies then you can use some melted white almond bark or some melted chocolate chips. This will be enough to keep the cookie pieces together. Aren’t these little bat wings the cutest part of the cookies so far? Let’s move on to adding a little melted chocolate.
Melt your candy melts, or chocolate almond bark in the microwave stirring every 20 or 30-second increments until it’s fully melted. If your chocolate seizes then just add a small amount (just a few drops at a time) of vegetable oil, coconut oil, or even olive oil works great. Stir the oil in and the chocolate should loosen back up. If needed add a little more and then microwave as needed.
Purple or Orange bat oreo halloween cookies? If you want to make different color bats now is the time. Melt several colors of candy melts the same way as the chocolate and the kids can create their own bats.

This is a great idea for your next Halloween party. These sweet little bats pass as Halloween candy at my house and make halloween one of the kid’s favorite holidays of the year.
If the chocolate firms before you have finished creating your fun halloween treats then just microwave the chocolate again and finish your bat cookies.
Set your bat cookies onto a wire rack so the chocolate can drip down through the wires but not make this tasty halloween treat stick to a pan from the excess chocolate. If they stick they could break and we want these adorable bats to stay intact.
If you want to use a plate instead that is perfectly fine, but you will need parchment paper or wax paper to cover the plate. A slipmate is also a great option to help the cookie not to stick.
One of my kids’ favorite things is to eat the cookies that aren’t perfect, and I always have several. So if you have a few that don’t turn out the way you want, don’t be upset they are still tasty halloween treats for all to enjoy!
Working with the melted chocolate, spoon or drizzle the chocolate onto the bat body of the Oreo cookie. Smooth the chocolate out as you work to cover the whole circle but not the wings.
While the chocolate is still warm and not set you can add your edible eyes. Set the eyes where you want them and you can choose how many and what size you use. Candy eyes can be found on the baking aisle at your local craft shop. Walmart now carries a cute box of mixed sized edible candy eyes.
Keep working until you have all your easy Halloween Oreo Bat Cookies are finished.
Let the cookies set at room template until hardened or you can pop them in the freezer for a faster finish. These bats make the cutest dessert for any upcoming Halloween parties you may have on your calendar. You can also add them to homemade or store bought cupcakes to make cute Bat Oreo Cupcakes as a special treat this Halloween season.
Store them in an air-tight container until it’s time to eat these tasty treats. The best part of these cookies is the extra cream filling with the edible eyeballs.
